Brooklyn Park is pretty well settled and is seven square miles, compared to Plymouth's thity-sex. Average home prices are a little below $100,000, with median incomes in the mid-$30,000/yr. range. So, it's a good place for first-time home buyers. There are a lot of "starter homes" here, quite a few from turn-of-the-century times. About half the housing available in Anoka is rental property -- mostly apartments dating from the late 60's and early '70's.

More expensive homes can be found with tree-filled lots and others that are along the rivers (there are two running through Anoka, the Mississippi and the Rum).

Anoka is about 20 miles northwest of the Twin Cities and definitely gets one away from the urban sprawl. Most of the people who work in Anoka itself are employed by the city or the county government or by Hoffman Engineering or Federal Cartridge Co.
