Roseville is
a St. Paul suburb, north and slightly west of St. Paul and
sporting the new 651 area code. Born in 1948, Roseville is
a baby-boomer itself, though the boom has calmed down
somewhat recently and the city's population has actually
declined since the end of the '80's. Parents are having
smaller families in Roseville these days, say the city
fathers, and the number of oldsters has increased a
little. Nonetheless, the word is that in Roseville there
are as many jobs as residents these days (around 33,000),
which is positive.
Much like Anoka's situation, there is only about 10% of
the city left to develop, but some new homes are
available. There are some lakeshore lots too, on four
different lakes.
Roseville is fairly close
to Minneapolis-St. Paul -- probably a 10 or 15 minute
southerly commute. There was a recent multi-million dollar
bond issue passed for school programs and city building
renovation.
Recreational facilities
include: an Olympic-class skating rink, the John Rose
Oval; plenty of parks (14) and, again, yes there is a golf
course -- the Cedarholm Golf Course |
