As a newer suburban city, Apple Valley offers a wide range of suburban amenities, from extensive shopping opportunities, a wide range of parks and recreational facilities, and athletic fields and arenas to keep residents active and healthy. An 18-hole city-owned golf course is popular with residents. Several small lakes offer popular angling and boating opportunities as well. Its public school system has very high ratings throughout, and provides quality education for the city’s younger residents. The Minnesota Zoo, with its world-class exhibits and even an I-Max theater, attracts residents and visitors.

The housing market is typical of outer ring suburbs, and includes both residential and commercial properties, with hundreds of listings by Northstar MLS MN participating brokers and agents. The residential market peaks at about $600,000. At the lower end of the market, offerings under $100,000 include some foreclosure bargains in condominium properties under $50,000. Listings in this price range are almost exclusively townhomes and condominiums. Single-family homes, built from the late 60s to the early 90s dominate the upper part of this range, many of them spacious and appealing. From $200-300,000, well-maintained single-family homes offer a wide range of choices for the buyer. Above $300,000, homes become larger, neighborhoods become more desirable, and quality construction are in evidence. Near the top of this range, which peaks at about $600,000, executive homes in exclusive neighborhoods attract attention.
