Brooklyn Center Real Estate Listings – Minnesota Northstar MLS Member
Located just north of Minneapolis and bordered by the Mississippi River, Brooklyn Center is a small, close-in suburb. One of the oldest inner-ring suburbs of the Twin Cities, it began as farmland, but grew rapidly into a postwar boomtown suburb. Since it borders on Minneapolis, many residents commute into that city for jobs, but fast access to the I-94 & I-694 loop makes commuting to other parts of the Metro Area simple. In recent years, the city has become one of the most ethnically diverse suburbs in the Twin Cities.

Almost entirely a bedroom community, the city’s character varies within the community. With the bulk of its homes built between 1950 and the 1970s, its many neighborhoods have an old-fashioned suburban feel. Plenty of local shopping opportunities will satisfy almost any need. Condominiums and townhouses make up part of the housing inventory. Local schools have a good reputation. The city has adequate park and recreational facilities for its population. North Mississippi Regional Park is especially popular.
Home prices are among the lowest overall in the Minneapolis St. Paul metro area, and bargain hunters will find many opportunities, from the current listings by Norhtstar MLS MN members. Investors, too, are attracted to the many low-priced homes that can add depth to a rental inventory. Few homes in Brooklyn Center are priced above $200,000, with some exceptions along the river. Most desirable homes fit into the $100,000 to $200,000 range, with abundant homes under $100,000 for real bargain seekers, along with foreclosure and short sale opportunities. Many neighborhoods are quiet and peaceful, with mature trees and sidewalks full of children at play. A few neighborhoods, however, may not meet your needs, so careful research should be done before making a commitment to buy.
